The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but 256 shades of gray

Technorati tags: , , , ,

The goings on in the current Malaysia political scene never ceases to provide Walski with his daily dose of entertainment. Granted that what's happening is no laughing matter, but it's the silliness of it all sometimes that gets Walski's funny-bone tickled to no end.

Hot on the tongues of many Malaysians at the moment is none other than the continuing saga of Dr. M vs The UMNO Juggernaut - hey! cool title for a superhero comic book story, eh? And as usual, when this sort of thought crosses Walski's mind...

Dr. M lost Round 1 to the UMNO Juggernaut in Kubang Pasu.
Will the next UMNO GA be the scene of a rematch?

Much has been said by other esteemed bloggers on the subject, so we won't regurgitate it here. But, suffice it to say that the next UMNO General Assembly is bound to be a cracker of an event, with its fireworks and melodrama. The GA is usally an emotional event anyway; this next one is bound to be a tear-jerking, and suspenseful weekend drama, complete with keris-waiving fervor, and comic relief (usually).

While writing the 9/11 post yesterday, though, Walski got to thinking about the kind of spin that we're seeing in the Malaysian mainstream press pertaining to the whole Dr. M thing. At the same time, news from sources outside the country seem to be telling a lot more that what we're officially hearing (check out Howsy's excellent compilation of foreign news bits on the ongoing Dr. M saga).

There is a lot of validity about the accusations that Dr. M has levelled on the current administration. While answers have been kind of given, they do sound more like apologies rather than real answers. Kinda like the "yes, we know we're a bunch of f*uck-ups, but give us a chance" sort of apology.

So, the question boils down to this: Who's got the low-down on the real truth?
(more shades of grey in the full post)

Walski's opinion is that there is some shade of truth in whichever version you may hear. Various shades of gray that color the real truth. Which is why it's important to not quickly take sides in any argument, until you've gotten as complete a 360deg view as possible.

In a two-sided argument, there will always be 3 sides to the story - each side's version, plus what really happened. Regardless of how many sides the argument has, there'll always be one extra side.

The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but. Otherwise it'll just be 256 shades of gray...
